Dennis McCarthy

Dennis R. and Kathi C. McCarthy retired in 2009 from professional careers in industry and live in Cape Vincent, NY. They are the authors and co-authors of several local history books and articles about shipwrecks in the Thousand Islands and are active with several local historical museums. In 1970, they became certified scuba divers. Dennis became involved in archeology in 1974 when he volunteered at the excavation of a Revolutionary War shipwreck located off Carleton Island, Cape Vincent. In 1994, he co-founded the St. Lawrence River Historical Foundation (SRHF), which has documented several shipwrecks in the Thousand Islands and registered them with the New York State Historic Preservation. They currently own a small publishing company. Both are current directors of the St. Lawrence River Historical Foundation (SRHF), members of the Nautical Archaeology Society and members of the Ordnance Society of Great Britain.
