About
Karen Peterson, CMP

Karen Peterson is a Certified Music Practitioner and harp coach. She began playing pedal harp in 1993 and switched to lever harp in 2001, adding the double-strung lever harp in 2008. She graduated from the Music for Healing and Transition Program (MHTP) in 2012 and began teaching harp that same year. She served on the MHTP Board of Directors for nine years, ending as the Board President. Karen spent 20 years working as a technical writer, user interface designer, project manager, and quality assurance coordinator for Nikon, American Express, TIAA-CREF, Dun & Bradstreet, Samsung, IBM, Sarah Lawrence College, the U.S. Government, and other companies. She enjoys arranging music for double-strung harp, particularly songs that she expects will be played overhead when she's old enough to live in a nursing home, like Guns N' Roses. Karen writes and presents workshops on topics that encourage adults to enjoy creating music, particular on the harp.
