About
Frans Doorman
I'm Frans Doorman, a sociologist with a PhD in the sociology of developing countries. I have worked for 30 years as a socio-economist in development cooperation, among others for the World Bank, the Dutch government, the European Commission, and various U.N. organizations. My interest in economics derives from the enormous influence its practitioners have on society: economic and financial policy determines to an important extent where we are headed. Standard economics sends us in the wrong direction - economically, socially and environmentally. Since economists themselves seem to be incapable of reinventing economics, I believe it is time for non-economists to get involved. With my books I hope to contribute to an economics that will increase our understanding of economic phenomena and to an environmentally sustainable, socially just and prosperous society - see also www.new-economics.info.
