Mason writes novels, poems, and short stories inspired by the rugged coast of Maine and the Maine North Woods. He draws upon his family's Maine roots going back to the Revolutionary War, and his experience as a Maine lawyer who practiced labor and employment law representing Maine employers for forty-seven years. He and his wife Carol live in Portland, Maine, and Saint Simons Island, Georgia, where he is a member of the Island Writers' Group.
