Te 'Ei Ma'uke is an project which celebrates the unique language and culture of the island of Ma'uke. The island of Ma'uke is located to the north east of Cook Islands capital Rarotonga. With a population of about 300 it is one of the smallest in the island chain. Te 'Ei Ma'uke provides an insight in to life on a small pacific island and more importantly bridges a generational gap by involving Ma'uke's youth in the production of this work. Yvonne was born in Rarotonga but her mother, Jasmine, was born on Ma'uke. Jasmine was the first child of Pama Pamatatau (his mother Rimaongo, was from Mangaia and his father, also named Pama, was from Niue) and Emmy Framhein (her mother Tangataeanga, was from Ma'uke and her father Charlie, was from Germany). Tepari is the name of the land on Ma'uke which the descendants of Tangataeanga and Charlie call home. Yvonne currently teaches development studies at the University of Auckland.
