Paul Woods

Paul Woods is a journalist, news executive and author. Currently executive director of Canada’s National Newspaper Awards, he worked previously as executive editor of the country’s largest daily newspaper (the Toronto Star), head of human resources for the national news agency (Canadian Press) and an instructor in Canada’s leading journalism program (Ryerson University). Woods is the author of two books about slices of Canadian history. Bouncing Back: From National Joke to Grey Cup Champs (2013) describes in detail the Toronto Argonauts' rise to the Canadian Football League championship in 1983 after 31 years of frustration and misery. Beads and Sequins: The Lewiscraft Story (2016) tells the nearly century-long story of Lewiscraft, a family-owned enterprise that rose through three generations to become one of Canada's most iconic retail brands. Woods is a dedicated archivist and historian of Canadian football, musical director of a ukulele band and an aspiring bass guitarist.
