I started writing science fiction after living with the memories of abuse. For about seven years, starting when I was five years old, my mother took out her frustrations in physical and verbal ways. Regularly I was black and blue, but also “beaten” in ways that weren’t visible. Beaten, is the name of the book describing those dark times. The science fiction that I write has helped me look towards the future in a positive way. They were originally for me to read and enjoy, as they are filled with adventures of people living and working in space. If these books don’t sell, which is not my main goal, at least they give me pleasure. Being physically beaten was hard, but the verbal and mental abuse was the worst.
