About
Janis M. Carlson
Jan Cooper-Carlson lives in a small, rural community in the Midwestern United States with her husband, granddaughter, three cats and a dog. An administrative professional for most of her life, she is the mother of two beautiful grown daughters and grandmother of five. In most respects, her life has been unremarkable. On October 1, 1992, Jan’s comfortable, unremarkable life took a rather remarkable turn; it was drop-kicked into the “Spiritual Zone” by an event which was witnessed by a reported ninety million-strong global audience. The event was the HBO telecast of Michael Jackson’s Live in Bucharest, Romania concert. In Jan’s heretofore unremarkable life, this event was the catalyst of a chain-reaction, domino-effect that continues to this day, almost twenty years later. Conversations began as an expression of grief; it ended up being an expression of gratitude.
