Natural Sciences Society Journal: Issue #2

Introduction Hello and welcome to the first ever Journal of the Olavian Natural Sciences Society! As a Society we were founded in mid-September, near the start of this academic year, and have gone from strength to strength since our inception. We are currently open to all students in years 11, 12 and 13 with an interest in scientific fields and our membership has grown steadily since September. We were aimed primarily at anyone considering a career in science, but we’re very pleased to see that our membership is widening to include many students with just a casual interest in scientific matters. Our structure involves a speech every Friday lunchtime (at 1pm in S4) given by a member of the Society, and this term we’ve had speeches on a very wide range of topics. A comprehensive list of this term’s speeches, along with a very brief summary of each, is included in this Journal, and we look forward in anticipation to the many speeches we will undoubtedly be receiving in the next term and beyond.
