Focus for this study was the performance impact of adding the accommodation of interpreting services, and investigated to what extent the deaf employees could attain the 70% accuracy standard set by a federal agency for a required web course. The hypotheses for this study stated that completion of web-based instruction will improve work performance and that the course taken alone (without an interpreter) is less effective than when aided (with an interpreter). This study focused on adding the accommodation of interpreting to a web course to determine if it can ease the literacy burden for more effective learning. How much learning might occur even without the accommodation?
