Papist or Poseur?

Miss Lacey's father has decided to submit to Queen Elizabeth's I's laws and to begin attending the Protestant services. Miss Lacey is relieved because she was frightened of the penalties they would have incurred if they had continued to hear the Masses of the Popish priests. Then Miss Lacye's fiance, Mr. Barton, declares he must break off their engagement, since he will not marry an apostate. Miss Lacey must learn to put the pieces of her life back together without him. With even more difficulty, she must find peace of heart in her new religion...
