Special education is tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities. There is no one size fits all approach to special education. Special education refers to arrange of education and social services provided by the school system and others educational institutions to individuals with disabilities who are between 3 and 21 years of age. Special education programs are designed for those students who are mentally, physically, socially and/or emotionally delayed (delayed in overall development like cognitive) which place them behind their peers. Due to these special requirements, students’ needs cannot be met within the traditional classroom environment. Special education programs and services adapt content, teaching methodology and delivery instruction to meet the appropriate needs of each child. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IEDA) defines specially designed instruction, at no cast to parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability.
