The Read My Face Series represents how we need to decipher faces, emotions or attitudes. For example, we talk about a “poker face”. It is not as easy as responding to a traffic light, but in some ways or situations is similar. Like with traffic lights, the signals are ignored, or misunderstood and if respected, a lot of trouble can be avoided. The color or colors on a face may be confusing. There are also facial micro expressions, which are in most cases hard to analyze. Emotions such as happiness, sadness, fear, anger, embarrassment, pride, surprise may be hidden or dramatically exposed on your face. Decoding emotional facial expressions is very difficult but important. Facial expressions provide insight into a person’s emotional state of mind. Now days there ways to automatically decode facial expressions using computer vision. Researchers decode emotional facial expressions with high accuracy using standardized images of prototypical basic emotions. For us humans, it could still be a daunting task.
As I create my art, I worked on providing a colorful and dynamic sensation of movement and a feeling of transformation. The butterfly effect is the idea that small things can have non-linear impacts on the environment around it. It is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a might have an important role in seemingly unrelated circumstances. The way I see it is the impact small things might have on bigger issues when they are attended, go unattended or are ignored. Accordingly, as we plan our day-to-day calendar activities, we need to provide a sense of a bight future and positive outcomes.
Furthermore, a lot of my work involves my explorations with the Geometrical Abstraction artistic style. In some cases, I only use circles and arcs as a source of inspiration. I love math, so this style fits me well and the way I think well. This approach is related to my professional background as a mathematics educator. I combine my two passions as I create art.
