Uncle Sam As Globocop

Uncle Sam as GloboCop examines the issues of imperialism and war aggression in the modern era from a Kantian perspective. Chapter One posits that the most important factor for the decline in war aggression since 1945 has been the spread of democracy, and not nuclear weapons. Chapter Two validates the reality of Kantian pan-democratic pacifism. Chapter Three empirically demonstrates that autocracies have far greater propensity for war aggression, with mass-conscripted militaries, than democracies. Chapter Four examines how America forged its strong international alliances with almost all of the world’s democracies. Chapter Five examines the political implications of persistent great power dictatorship in Russia and China. Chapter Six assesses the two most destabilizing problems that countries confront in transitions to democracy: demagogues and sectarianism. Chapter Seven proposes three key lessons that can be deduced from American military “overextension” in Asia – the Vietnam War and the Iraq War.
