John Bunyan wrote The Pilgrim's Progress in two parts, of which the first appeared at London in 1678, begun during his imprisonment in 1676; the second in 1684. An allegory of Christian's journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City, it is written in a prose that unites biblical eloquence with the clarity of common speech, and is the most successful allegory ever written. It is considered by most to be a world classic. If ever there was an inspiring work created by man, and a work that, although written hundreds of years ago, still has a significant application today, this is it! Christian’s journey is every man’s journey. The obstacles that he faces, the trials that are placed before him, are common to each of us. From the outset, there is a kinship felt with Christian that allows the reader to easily place himself in the role of Christian, and experience not only empathy with Christian, but learn from the lessons that this allegory presents in so significant a manner.
