This book is a collection of papers given in honor of Dr. Steven L. Rubenstein (June 10, 1962-March 8, 2012) at the annual meetings of the American Anthropological Association on November 18, 2012 in San Francisco, California. Dr. Rubenstein directed the Research Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Liverpool and was Reader in Latin American Anthropology at the time of his sudden death. The papers touch on his anthropological training at Columbia University, and address his interests, influence, and scholarship, much of it based on field research conducted in the Ecuadorian Amazon among the Shuar people. The work is compiled by Kathleen Fine-Dare, with contributions by anthropologists Fine-Dare, Jean Scandlyn, Chris Kyle, Barry Lyons, Ana Mariella Bacigalupo, Magnus Course, Carmen Martínez Novo, Brad Jokisch, Kendra McSweeney, Emma Jane O'Driscoll, Daniela Peluso, Lêda Martins, and Janet Chernela.
