This book by Masaaki Hatsumi (soke) was originally only available in Japanese. Hatsumi Soke, headmaster of Togakure Ryu Ninpo and Director of the Bujinkan Hombu (Noda, Japan), authorized and encouraged the Kihon Press translation which was officially released in 1999. This amazing book has approximately 188 pages of ninja philosophy for training and living. Hatsumi Soke resides in Noda, Japan. He was born in Noda, Chiba on December 2, 1931 and participated in many sports during his school years, along with martial arts and theater. After graduating from university, Hatsumi began searching for a teacher to further his study of martial arts. When he was 26, he met Toshitsugu Takamatsu, known as "the Mongolian Tiger." Hatsumi was amazed by Takamatsu's skill and was happy to be accepted as a student. He spent fifteen years learning various samurai and ninja styles from Takamatsu. Takamatsu died in 1972 after advancing Hatsumi from student to Soke of nine warrior lineages. Hatsumi Soke retired from active teaching in December 2019.
