Gail Crawford
Gail Gopaul-Crawford grew up in privilege, the daughter of one of Trinidad's leading reformers in education. She came to America full of confidence in herself and anxious to make her mark in the world. When she married, she thought that she had found her perfect American man. But after twenty-seven years of abuse and violence, Gail left her husband and started the long, painful process of reclaiming her self-worth. These days, Gail Gopaul-Crawford spends her time running her nonprofit foundation, No More Domestic Violence. She has dedicated the rest of her life to trying to help women get out of violent and dangerous situations and hopes that by telling her story, others will find the courage to do the same.
