Katherine Eatmon
Born in New York City, Ms Eatmon lived in Raleigh NC for 30 years. She now lives with her cat in a village in the Hudson Valley, NY. She is a retired teacher who spent her life devoted to the education of intellectually disabled and medically fragile children in the public school system. She was a tireless advocate who helped navigate the confusing and frustrating bureaucracy known as the "education system." All her life she has written passionate poetry about her deepest and most vulnerable feelings. She has won county and state awards for her poetry. She has a lovely daughter who is an advocate for childhood brain tumor survivors. Her husband passed away from crack cocaine in 2005 at 49 and her son passed away at 27, poisoned by fentanyl, a loss she will never recover from. Katherine is deeply awed by nature and uses it as a springboard for her beautiful and sometimes witty poetry.
