The Unbecoming Journal by Riley Galvin
Hi! My name is Riley. I value Inclusivity, Self-Expression, Transparency, and Safety. I chose to specialize in trauma-informed somatic practice because I experienced its transformative power in fostering healing and empowerment. The positive effects of this approach extend beyond addressing symptoms, providing individuals with a holistic and sustainable path toward resilience, self-discovery, and a renewed sense of well-being. I have been told many times that I have a big heart, good energy, a sense of humor, and grounding energy; I exhibit genuine care for others, all of which show up in my somatic work. I am deeply committed to being a part of your Unbecoming Journey. MY BACKGROUND Before I opened the Unbecoming Journey, I was a public school teacher for nine years. I spent my time working with students with challenging needs and behaviors and families from a wide range of backgrounds. It was clear that all of my students and families were needing HEALING, CONNECTION, and SAFETY. Life is a mirror, and the more I wanted to help my students, the more I found myself seeking my own personal growth mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I invested in talk therapy and somatic practice. Which transformed my life in ways I had never thought possible. In 2022, my personal transformation led me to open the books again and change career paths from teaching children to guiding adults through trauma-informed somatic therapeutic practices.
