These "no-cost" downloads from P. Craig Browning are, in fact, worth their weight in platinum --- they're quite fantastic. Mr. Browning, as usual, delivers information that's thought-provoking and incredibly useful. You would be well-advised to grab these before the artist changes his mind and begins charging for them. These are all must-reads --- period. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I strongly agree with Craig Browning's ideas regarding a thorough familiarization with at least one divination method as an entreé to mentalism. Here he provides a terrific start, with a generous primer in numerology, some great tips on presentation and how to give a convincing cold reading, and a near-exhaustive look at the extant cold reading literature list from Doug Dyment's deceptionary.com, peppered with the author's "unsolicited comments" and "rude remarks." If you're familiar with Browning's thought-provoking column "Cranial Consternations" from the online magical journal Visions, you know he doesn't mince words when it comes to his thoughts on mentalism. The same is true here, as he prefaces things with criticism of the mud-slinging damage the field suffered in past decades at the hands of detractors such as James Randi before outlining a worthy way of cleaning up that reputation. This was a great read that I probably would have paid twice... More > as much for had it not been free.< Less
