Dec 27, 2005"Hope for the disorderly traveller" Deborah Thomas has to be the world's most organized travelling Mom, and her pocket-sized guide is filled with practical advice for ironing the wrinkles out of your next family vacation. Not that she recommends you pack an iron, though some people have been known to do that. Not Deborah, whose motto is: plan heavily in advance, so you can end up travelling light. Somehow she manages to reduce the chaos to one slim 49-page volume. Her lists left me in awe of her gift of foresight. She has thought of everything that could possibly go wrong, and how to avoid it or fix it when it does happen. I blushed as I thought of the time I left for the airport without my passport, and how I never seem to know which pocket i last put my boarding pass in. As far as knowing where I'm going once I get there, I depend on the kindness of strangers to guide my spur of the moment decisions. With its easy to decipher lists and interactive approach to planning... More > your trip, Travel Tips could convert the most determinedly disorganized tourist into a model of efficiency in motion. Reading how a pro goes about it has left me permanently altered. Never again will I start packing a couple of hours before my flight takes off, or apologize to an immigration officer for my unzipped duffle bag stuffed with dirty laundry. From now on, when I travel, I'll always remember to have Deborah Thomas' Travel Tips stowed in my bum-pack along with my makeup, money, mints, migraine medication, (illegal) matches etc etc ... The one thing she forgot to mention: don't forget to leave your nail scissors at home, or hide them in your checked luggage. I've already lost three pairs since 9/11/2001< Less
