This inventive and complex graphic novel chronicles the life of the main character, Carol Roswell, from 1969-2024.
A controversial comic book story written by Carol and illustrated by the new love of her life, the tale of a bizarre house filled with even more bizarre characters.

"Reading a comic about someone reading a comic....." ...Or Carol's Revenge on the Magpie. Julee lives in an Orwellian not-too-distant-future where birth control, sex and interesting things to read are against the law. She is reading her late mother's memoirs. Her mother, Carol Roswell, was a writer and one of her books is Spider Cafe, which is shown here in a graphic novellization illustrated by Julee's father. As a science fiction/horror fan, I immensely enjoyed Spider Cafe. The story alternates between Carol's story, Julee's story and the comic inside the comic. Lee does a lot of interesting things to structure the different books of One for Sorrow and I think in this one he kind of lulls you with some comforting repetition of panel structure until you turn that page and see "OH MY GOD!"
