I had no idea Rich was such an excellent story teller! Anyone who wants a nice inside peek at an amazing Wall Street career should read this. After reading some chapters about a few technical or financial matters, then you are blown away by the strengths and weaknesses of the people around Rich during his career. Besides smiling at the Gulag Toronto references, you have to read the chapter about "Eating Soup" plus the serious material in Chapter 18 about "Hitting the Wall". What a fantastic roller coaster of a ride and we have the good fortune to read all about it. Thank you Rich - keep working and writing!

Rich Marin's new book, GULAG 401K, depicts an extraordinary life and is exceptionally well written. GULAG 401K takes place in the world of retirement, high finance, and day-to-day living. It tells the story of many adventures. I offer three examples of fascinating stories found at the start of Rich's book, and which lay the foundation for the rest of the book: Staying at the Ritz, Climbing Rope, and Trading Zeroes. They are colorful and memorable. I hope you enjoy Rich Marin's GULAG 401K as much as I did.

I didn’t know a lot about the topics he discusses. Gulag is an informative and amusing book. As to his anecdotes, been there, done similar dumb things. Best laid plans, etc... The business aspects were very informative for an outsider such as myself. I always find it interesting to learn about different subjects that I wouldn’t be able to without the help of someone who knows what they are talking about. Like Rich. I read his book as soon as he sent it to me and apologize for the delay of my review of a very good read. I intended to do it sooner but I’m too busy paving my road to Hell with those intentions.

This is a great extension of Rich Marin's first book, The Global Pension Fund Crisis. Rich colorfully talks about his career and artfully weaves together the story of why he is so passionate and concerned about the retirement future of almost 50% of American workers who are unprepared and the 50% who are but will carry the burden. The book is about much more than 401k's, and is a must-read for anyone who is retired or will retire in the next decade.
