Alexa Garvoille is a ninth grade English teacher at Durham School of the Arts. At the beginning of their freshman year, her students write personal memoirs over the course of six weeks. They brainstorm, draft, and redraft, until the final product emerges. Now, their voices can be heard beyond the classroom in this collection of authentic student writing, published by a group of students on the DSA Publishing team.
