I was born in Wilmington N.C. in 1976; Having lived all over the U.S. I have always called the triangle area home. Being a totally self taught artist starting with sketches of anything and everything at a very young age. I then moved into pen and ink doing comics and other illustrations. As a teenager I started doing charcoal portraits and clay/plaster sculpture. Most of my work now involves paint mediums watercolor, oils and acrylics. I have done many murals including one featured at the school of communication arts honoring the families affected by the 911 attacks. I have also done character developement for various printings and movies. Some of my paintings show my take on the beauty of the natural world while others reflect the movement of life. Whether that movement be cultural or social. I can be reached at jdwelchideastolife@gmail.com for any info on my work and my availability.
