Kateri J. Davis lives with her husband and daughter in Oregon, USA, and together they run the Davis Lund Aviaries where they specialize in raising and breeding softbill birds, from honeycreepers to hornbills. Kateri has been involved with birds her entire life and has been working with turacos since the early 1990’s. She currently has about 30 turacos of 5 different species in her aviaries and over 30 mousebirds. She ships offspring to zoos and other private aviculturists around the USA. She is the author of the books "Turacos in Aviculture" and "Mousebirds In Aviculture" published by Birdhouse Publications, Full color softcover books of both titles are available through Birdhouse Publications. Mrs. Davis is also a contributing author in the book "Handrearing Baby Birds" published by Blackwell Publishers, and has written many softbill articles for publication in magazines and journals. She also creates and publishes lessons for teachers that are available for purchase. Mrs. Davis taught elementary and middle school teacher for 30 years, and retired in 2021. During that time, she created loads of curriculum on various subjects.
