My name is Patricia Kahlich, and this is my first venture into literary waters. The story of the McFarlin family is loosely based on my own upbringing in the large Catholic Konderla family from Texas. Currently, I butter my bread by working behind the chair in a small hair salon in downtown Plano Texas, which I have done for twenty-five years. Growing up in such a large family, reading was a way for me to escape to other lands and live as other people. I believe it is the combination of my large family, my faith, and my love of reading that makes me the storyteller I am today.
