Leonard F. Dean lived in Granville County, NC in the 1930s through 50s. After graduating in Engineering from NC State University, he spent most of his adult life in Raleigh. He held numerous technical and management positions with IBM during a 28-year career in the Research Triangle. Dean retired in 1992 and since then has been busy with volunteer activities. He is a charter member with the Granville County Genealogical Society, a frequent researcher at the North Carolina State Archives and State Library, and an award winning author of NCGS for his two-volume history of the "Hobgood Family of Granville County, NC before 1850". He served on the Boards of NCGS, Friends of the Archives, and GCGS, and teaches computer skills at Raleigh SeniorNet. He is the father of four sons, a former youth soccer coach, a Methodist, and married to Sarah Andrews. His latest book, "Granville County North Carolina Gazetteer", is a collection from researching Granville County for 15 years.
