About
Nessa Burns

Nessa Burns was born and raised in New York City. In 1982, she boarded a Greyhound bus at 3 a.m. and headed north to Bowdoin College, where she double-majored in English and History. After graduation, she worked as a writer, editor, graphic designer, and public speaker. Since 2008, she has co-owned a crafts shop, Fabricate (http://mdifabricate.com) and conducts genealogical research through her company, Tree Stories. Nessa and her husband, Peter, have four children. Their home is filled with old books, pop culture detritus, vinyl records, genealogical files, and four male cats. The daughter of a poet and a jazz musician, Nessa began writing at age eight. She haunted the aisles of department stores and pharmacies, seeking the ideal looseleaf paper and the best 3-ring binder. Her grandfather provided a constant supply of golf pencils to feed her habit. To this day, the tactile sensation of a smooth, clean sheet of paper makes her smile.
