The work of Philoptochos women supports many institutions on an international, national and local level. We are proud of the many roles that we play and the variety of individuals and charities that we support. The St. Christine chapter was founded in 1959 and has been a continuous presence in the charitable work of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Weston, Massachusetts. Our women are present in all aspects of parish life and in the Greater Boston area. We are deeply grateful to those women who have preceded us, who rolled bandages for the Red Cross, who made the pastries, and who supported the national charities. They are the ones that passed these recipes along to us. Even though many could not speak the language of America, these women did understand the language of kindness and charity and passed that along to us as well. New challenges await and unanticipated needs present themselves, and today’s Philoptochos members stand ready to continue their charitable work.
