Victor Vizcarra
Col. Vizcarra, a 24 year Air Force veteran, was commissioned in 1960. Upon completion of Pilot Training in 1961, he was assigned to F-100’s. In 1963, he transitioned to the F-105 and served in Japan. From Japan, he participated in three deployments to Southeast Asia where he flew 59 combat missions in the F-105D. During his third deployment, he was forced to eject from his disabled F-105D over North Vietnam and was rescued by a Navy helicopter. He later returned to fly 120 combat missions in the F-100D/F. Follow-on assignment were as an F-105 and F-5 instructor pilot. Promoted to Colonel in 1981, his final assignment was as the Deputy Commander of Maintenance, where he flew the F-4E. Thud Pilot is the author's first publication. He is currently authoring a second book, "Tales Galore" which chronicles the Vizcarra Flying Dynasty of three generations of fighter pilots and the incredible aircraft they flew.
