I am a promoter of the B Flat flute played mainly by PUL marching bands in Northern Ireland, Scotland and parts of England. As a young lad growing up in Belfast during the troubles, I found that joining a flute band led me into a different world and changed my life forever.
Through social networking and video sharing sites on the internet, I have made tutorials to help teach the flute and I am building an archive of traditional and modern tunes played by many flute and fife bands associated with the Ulster Scots musical tradition, for free use by all.
I self published the pocket sized B Flat Fluter's Companion in 2008 and also a book on Loyalist Flute Bands with Blurb.com. The latest book is a collection of over 300 tunes alongside a brief introduction to the flute bands and different flute makers.
