"IN APPROPRIATE: A novel of culture, kidnapping, and revenge in modern Japan" is the first fiction work by author ARUDOU Debito. Arudou is a 23-year resident of Japan, a newspaper columnist at The Japan Times, and a naturalized Japanese citizen. This work exposes a dark side of family ties in Japan, one rarely seen with such insight and depth. His nonfiction books include "Handbook for Newcomers, Migrants, and Immigrants" (Akashi Shoten Inc., Tokyo, 2008), and "JAPANESE ONLY: The Otaru Hot Springs Case and Racial Discrimination in Japan" (Akashi Shoten Inc., Tokyo, Japanese 2003, English 2004). He lives in Sapporo.
