If you are interested in Muscat, Oman, Guadur, Bahrain, Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar, Abu Dhabi or, more generally, the BPAEA then this volume is valuable reading.

The book is, essentially, a reprint of the first edition which was published in 1975. Due to the quality and method of printing the original edition (and limitations imposed by how this version was created) some images lack detail.

Time has added further information; the 'Supplement' can be acquired elsewhere.

This book is the key text for those wishing to understand the postal history of this area, but it is more than a dry postal history reference book--it is also a great read! < Less

The book is thoroughly illustrated (in black and white, and colour), and very thoroughly categorised. Dates of use for First Day Covers (and the stamps used for this purpose) and ordinary mailings are provided. This book is important for everyone interested in the postal history (and even just the history) of Muscat and Oman. But, like many others famous in their day, the man has started to disappear into history books. He should not be disappearing; his work at Tulane University and, in particular, his support of African-American education deserves to be better remembered.

This booklet is an attempt to bring the man back to life. It uses mainly covers (envelopes) written by or to him, to illustrate his life. However there are family photographs and an 'official' biography as well. It is, though, an unusual booklet in that it is centred on being a 'postal history biography' designed to appeal to those wishing to know more about the man and to the postal historian. But once read and enjoyed it was always very difficult to find a particular piece of information as it was always an incredible mix of articles and pieces. If you are serious about exploring Gulf postal history you need this 'Index' to go with your copy of the Quarterlies. < Less

This site specialises in U.K. postal history and Arabian Gulf States postal history (Ajman,Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, BPAEA British Postal Agencies of Eastern Arabia, Dubai, Fujeira, Gwadur, Kuwait, Muscat, Oman, Qatar, Ras Al Khaima, Sharjah, Trucial States, Umm Al Qiwain, Persian Gulf and the UAE United Arab Emirates). The most recently released book is 'United Arab Emirates Postal History Volume 1 Abu Dhabi'.

The site is interested in family history (such as William Turner who left Scotland and emigrated to Melbourne and played a prominent role in 1890s Victorian economy (CBA bank). A deluxe edition is available as well as normal.

And education, and logic, both generally and 'schooling'.
