Betty Peercy Givan was born in Monticello, Kentucky, the youngest of six children. Early in life she became interested in the preparation of food, and began creating and collecting recipes at the age of 12. She recently retired from her career as a professor of mathematics and has spent the past three years combining her teaching talents with her hobby of cooking to create the bettyskitchen channel on YouTube.
