Founded by brothers Cyrill (creator of Cyrillic) and Methodius in 800 AD, the Moravian (Czech) Church published the first hymnal in Europe.
In the 1600s, Hallgrimur combined the Moravian singing-service with the Icelandic Saga rimer tradition to create The Passion-Hymns. During Hallgrimur's era, Moravian Bishop Comenius advocated European unity, freedom of conscience and the benefits of spontaneous order, which appealed to the great poet.

4-part SATB harmony is perfect for soloists, quartet, choir and congregation. Chord symbols are included. Voicings are suggested for the singers playing Hallgrimur along with Christ and the other Biblical characters. < Less
