As a child with a developmental disability, my parents had the courage to raise me at home with no preconceived notions about my limitations. We learned of them together as I grew up. With my disability being Cerebral Palsy, my limitations were physical and not cognitive. I was bound and determine from a very early age to be just like everyone else. It created a determination within me that drove my parents crazy. Some activities that I wanted to participate in or tasks that I wanted achieve meant that they just had to let me try it and learn the way every other child learns. I am now the mother of three teenage boys and understand my parents so much more! I have started putting my experiences into writings in hope that others will be inspired to follow their own dreams and to assist others with theirs.
