Dennis Polis Is a graduate of Loyola-Marymount, where he won the President's Prize in Philosophy. His Ph. D. in theoretical physics is from Notre Dame. Subsequently, he had a career as a scientific generalist. He conducted a 30 year technological forecast foe Lockheed; served on the Delaware Governor's Task Force for Coastal and Marine Affairs; advised the state's congressional delegation; headed the physical oceanography program at the University of Delaware's College of Marine Studies; reviewed the NSF's International Decade of Ocean Exploration Physical Oceanography program; did experimental design studies for NOAA; was Manager of Technology Enhancement for Roy F. Wesson, inc.; and founded a technical software development firm. He is the author of numerous technical reports and papers, as well as philosophical journal articles and book reviews.
