ELENA SKOKO is a multimedia, multicultural, multilingual urban poetress who defines herself as a "life-artist". A nomad by choice and by chance, she infuses every context she is involved in with love, passion and poetry, and occasionally, when there is injustice, sheer anger. After she gave birth to her daughter she became mother-artist and activist for human rights in childbirth. She is a researcher of the cultures of birth and shares her findings in books, articles and conferences. Her Singing Birth Workshops are happenings where her experiences as artist, singer and mother are distilled and directed towards facilitating women's and mothers' empowerment.
