Born and bred in Sydney, Australia, one of the 'awkward generation' sub-group of the 'baby boomers' - born towards the end; too young to join in the fun and social revolution of the 1960s and too old to enjoy the fruits of it's flow on effects into the school system. The youngest of three born to a local truck driver and a mother with an eye condition that caused her to gradually go blind. She was totally blind when I went to school. I grew up in an environment where nothing breakable was left near the edge of the table. I spent a lot of time in the adult world acting as his mother's eyes; thus having a more adult view of the world than my peers.
After leaving school at sixteen, I've worked at everything from door-to-door sales, law enforcement, to administration and management; earning various qualifications in my own time
I've written many reports, technical, and training papers for work. I've written millions of words of fiction before I started writing stories professionally.

Sixteen year old Hal Smith is a quiet, unassuming, teen boy with a bad knee and no dreams. Taught to help people, he does;... More > without thinking before acting. In Year Ten in a new city and school, it's a year of living in interesting times, as he's often in the wrong place at the wrong time, doing the right thing. Events happen to him, and he shapes them to the advantage of his friends and himself. In the process, they learn about Hal and that he has secrets; one he doesn't want to explain, one he'd like to forget - but is reminded with every step he takes, and another he doesn't even think about. But his past comes back to meet him, and to help shape his future. Some violence. < Less |
