Evan Wilson lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife Ann Hume Wilson. He worked at The Sun in Baltimore and wrote a Sunday this-day-in-history column in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He has published numerous articles in national magazines and the Old Farmer's Almanac-Southern Edition, but his all-time favorite is "Davis E-Service Runabouts" in the September-October 1991 issue of Classic Boating. His "history" of bib overalls is anthologized in True South: Travels Through a Land of White Columns, Black-Eyed Peas, and Redneck Bars. He sailed his Norwegian Folkboat in Chesapeake Bay and Pamlico Sound. He has also been a lobbyist for the artisanal commercial fishermen of North Carolina, worked overseas supplying economic intelligence to the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations, was President Johnson's Chief of Mission to the XIX Olympiad in Mexico City in 1968 and in that capacity negotiated and signed the Oaxtapec Declaration on behalf of the United States.
