More > present here. Well done!!" Bob La Du, Ph.D., Portland, Oreogn. This narrative behind the Sir Francis Drake survey was conveyed to the author by Wayne Jensen, how he and Donald Viles made their discovery of the survey, its subsequent verification by Phil Costaggini and Robert J. More > Francis Drake’s famous voyage; preceding the 1586 "Anonymous Narrative" published by the Richard Hakluyt. In January of 1989 Wayne Jensen, Director of the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum and Sir Francis Drake historian, contacted the Reverend Martin Pollard, O.S.B. of Mount Angel Abbey at St. Benedict, Oregon to translate this 16th century botanical document from its early Latin to present day English. Poor Xeroxing and poor health caused the translation delay until late 1992. Although the facsimiles contained in this production may not be up to some standards, never the less, this work is deemed necessary for the scholar of 16th century plants and Drake. The process of translating from one language to another is not exact therefore; there may be some variance from word to word of the translated pages.< Less
