Hugo du Coudray was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies, in 1933. He came to the United States in 1943 and became a citizen in 1950. He finished elementary school in Montreal, Canada; high school in Yuma, Arizona; and attended college in the University of Arizona (Engineering), México City College (Anthropology), and the University of California, Berkeley (A.B., 1959, Psychology-Pre Medicine). Graduate degrees: University of Oregon (MA, 1964; Ph.D., 1966. Psychology). Academic posts: University of Oregon (1962), Stanford University (1963-1967), Portland State University (1967-present), Oregon Health & Sciences University (1998-present). Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychology, PSU and Adjunct Professor in the School of Medicine, OHSU. Beside his academic career, he has practical and research experience in mental hospitals, clinical practice, and rehabilitation from traumatic brain injury. He has always had an interest in Psychological theory.
