James H. Maroney, Jr. holds a B.A. in art history from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, at Amherst. He is currently matriculated at Vermont Law School where he will earn a Masters in Environmental Law & Policy. He has served as Head of American Paintings at both Sotheby’s (1967-74) and Christie’s (1993-95) in New York and, from 1976 to the present, has operated his own private art gallery James Maroney Inc. specializing in important nineteenth and early twentieth century American paintings watercolors and sculpture. He has served on the IRS Art Advisory Panel in Washington DC (1975-77) and has been a member of the Art Dealer’s Association in New York. From 1986 to 1996 Mr. Maroney owned and operated Oliver Hill Farm in Leicester VT, which with 125 cows milking was at the time, the largest Certified Organic dairy farm in the United States. In 2008, he wrote “The Political Economy of Milk” (Gala Books Ltd), a critique of the American dairy industry.
