Dr. Edgar A. Barnett began his medical career in England, under the National Health Services until 1966 when he emigrated to Canada. He continued his medical practice in Kingston, Ontario, Canada as a certified family practitioner, Chairman of the Dept. of General Practice at Kingston General and Hotel Dieu Hospitals and lecturer at Queen's University
In 1975 Dr. Barnett gave up his general practice to devote full time to the practice of analytical hypnotherapy and psychotherapy. In the following years he became President of the Ontario Society of Clinical Hypnosis, held the positions of Secretary and Vice President of the American Board of Medical Hypnosis and received the Diploma of the American Board of Medical Hypnosis. He was elected Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis
In 1996 Dr. Barnett traveled to Budapest Hungary to co-chair a world conference on medical hypnosis.
Currently he is still practicing in Ontario, Canada.
