Max Liberson is an RYA Yachtmaster with a passion for adventure, who started his sea career in 1976 on an old wooden trawler. In 1992 he bought a 20 foot sailing boat and discovered sailing. By 2009 he had roamed the Norh sea as far as Bergan, been as far west as Cork and as far South as Portugal. The chance purchase of an old Ferro Cement Schooner opened up the possibility of an Atlantic crossing. There were many barriers to such an undertaking, but all were succesfully overcome and Max and his schooner not only made it to the Caribbean, but sailed back to the U.K. In so doing he turned a decrepid houseboat into a vessel that self steered across 4500 miles of ocean, dealing with storm force winds and the flat calms of the horse latertudes, a singlehanded voyage undertaken without a working diesel engine, and without many of the high tech devices others consider essential for blue water sailing.
