“I am LIFE REPORTER. But, for short, you can simply call me a poet.” Born in a small southern town named Jesup, GA, this 28 year old woman of the word, began writing poetry at the tender age of 11 years old. Melanie YeYo Carter was published for the very first time, while in the 8th grade, in an edition of “An Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans”. She spent the following 7 years developing a personal relationship with her pen & finding her voice. Her passion & love for the art form continued to flourish. During this time, she began to accept that writing poetry was much more than just a ‘hobby’ to her. Writing poetry was a significant part of her existence. So, she continued to write & walk in her purpose.
