Ruth Thomas was born and raised in South Louisiana. She is a member of her APFPublisher Pat Simpson's Writers & Poetry alliance and the Louisiana State Poetry Society, and is active in the Bayou Chapter, which encompasses the Houma, Thibodaux, and Morgan City areas of the state. She takes an active part in the state's Spring and Fall Poetry Festivals and has won places for poems entered in the yearly contests. She is the mother of 3 daughters and the grandmother of 9. Her poems have been published in various publications, including the Louisiana State Poetry Society's Anthology 2010, Poems and Promises~A Tapestry of Dreams, Favorite Poet's Choice 2009, Favorite Poet's Poems 2010 & 2011, Winter's Wonderful Days, and Global Poets of the Year 2010.
