Mark Newstetter is a guitarist and music teacher. He is the author of the Fretography series of guitar instruction books. Born in New York City, Mark began his career as a musician in Greenwich Village during the 1970's where he performed in clubs and coffee houses and was co-proprietor of the the Hummingbird Cafe, an underground coffee house located on Bleecker Street, a half block from CBGB. Mark is currently lives in San Francisco where he is the proprietor of Balboa Guitars and continues to perform and teach and repair guitars.
